"On June 29, 1910, Doctor Early married Miss Melita Rorer Wilson, a daughter of Dr. William A. and Mary (Miller) Wilson, residents of Radford, Virginia, where he is a practicing physician. Mrs. Early attended the Virginia State Normal School at Farmville. Doctor and Mrs. Early have no children." My grandmother, Neva Hurst was the illegitimate daughter of James Early and Sally Hurst.

It sat on the edge of Saltville's municipal golf course, but it has been torn down, much to the detriment of the community." As the town doctor, Dr. Early previously occupied what is sometimes referred to as the Kent House in Saltville.
